Revisiting the Datto Life 30 Years Later.

Hello All. My first car at 17 was a Datto 1000 that I restored myself. Resprayed, Retrimmed interior, fitted an A12 etc. 30 Years on and I have just acquired another Datto 1000 project that was gifted to me by a friend who I helped build his Hakosuka project.

My 18yo son and I will be getting stuck into the new Datto. I have a CA18 and 5 speed to go in and will probs cut down a H190, hilux or Pintara BW diff for it. ITBs and headers is the plan, I already have enough over powered old cars.

It's pretty cool that this forum still exists and is active too. Will try and work out how to add pics.
hmmm...I think welcom to the forum Al it is...

would be great to see the New project for the young fella,

forums seem to be dying a death, Stalkbook has taken over,
the 300zx forum was amazing, Datsun1200.com of course, still the most complete resource for Aseries vehicles.

Hi again Al,
a CA with ITB's would be awesome, or a 4AGE,
I think the CA with a box to suit and a stronger Diff would balance out the extra weight of the CA,
I'd love to see what you could do with some boost on a A series,
back in the day on 1200.com one of the guys made 125ish HP on a stock A12,
I think today with Haltech and E85...

Hi Al, My first car was a Datsun 1000 while I was still at school, 1987 I think. Well it's over 30 years later and I'm looking for my last project. They get under your skin.
parts are not as easy as they once were, so get something that is as complete as you can

Hey beetwenty - new to the group and stumbled across this thread looking for parts for our 1000 b20 ute restoration. Yep - parts seem to be very elusive!! Luckily we got one largely intact with body work the biggest job. First project for my 13yr old son. It's all original (A10) apart from electric fuel pump. Will aim to keep original. Replaced master cylinder and re-sleeved wheel cyclinders so my son can drive around the farm - he loves it! We will look at a 32-36 Weber perhaps until he's ready to tackle an A12 down the track! It's a great machine!
love the pic with the puppy dog in the back.
