Datsun 1000 fusebox confusion

Hi guys

I'm new to B10 wiring. Have wired dozens of SR/CA/FJ powered Dattos, but seem to be stumped by the basic wiring in the '10'....

Am working on a mate's VB10 tonight. The previous owner replaced the fusebox with a generic 6 blade fuse box and has made a bit of a mess of things (inc melting the black wire at the alternator...)

I am trying to get the car up and running and am wondering whether the two terminals on the pic below should be linked at the fusebox? If so, should it be some sort of fusible link?
from memory the unfused side of the fusebox, the top two are joined, and the botton two are joined...
Yeah, that makes sense. That would make the bottom 2 (in the diagram) 'battery' supply sources and the top 2 'ignition' sources. I think we might make some good progress tonight :-)
SX510- your my hero .......   Just incase any one wants to know this guy is one of the other ppl i know with a 1000 estate in their garage. ( inspiration Jeff- thanks ) so i ended up swapping out the fuse box that came in the car ( not standard ) and now have a different one in there. First time i have have 5 min on the car since i picked it up last weekend and im fairly confident it wont be long before it will be registered and on road.
