Front brake drums, datsun 100 1200 or 120Y

Hi Folks,
I am looking for a pair of front brake drums for the 1000 (B10), preferably new ones  but good used ones obviously can do as well.

I understand that they are the same as for the 1200 and 120Y models (i.e. before the front drums of these models were superseded by disc brakes.)

I'm taking a good bet here, as I think some people have actually gone to the trouble of converting their front drums to the disc setup, so I'm hoping you might have some drums (and perhaps the hubs to go with them) just sitting around gathering dust and that you therefore don't need any more.

So if you have, I'd greatly appreciate a message with the cost involved.

Many thanks!

Claudio
heya Claudio,
if you get stuck we can look for something over here...
Thanks for the quick response Dundee,
No-one else has replied yet, but early days...

I'll certainly keep you in mind, with whatever you have available!

Cheers,

Claudio
Hi Claudio,
I have the complete front setup when I did my discs, unbolted from a-arm and crossmember. Only thing I'm in Melbourne. Let me know and we can work out how you can get them.

regards
Richard
can also help out have a couple of front ends laying around happy to provide drums and hubs etc but in Canberra
I have been a long time member of the 1200 club but found this site. As I have a coupe this is where I should be.
That's great - Thanks Richard and Datto,
I'm doing this for my uncle, so I'll talk to him to see what he would like to do.

Will get back in about a day - and much appreciated!

Cheers,

Claudio
Hi to all you helpful guys who responded to my front brake drum email.

I found a chap who has some overseas contacts and he managed to find us a pair of new original drums from a 1200 model, so my uncle is pretty chuffed that he could still actually get new ones!

This would save him a good deal of cash, as these bolt straight on and don't need to necessarily be turned to be cleaned up. (I'm not suggesting that yours aren't true, or anything!) Apparently, my uncle says that to do a decent job, one needs to mount the drums on the actual hub and so it's a good deal more complicated than just bolting on a new set!

This chap has contacts in South Africa and Japan and if you like, I could ask him to contact you guys here at the club, in case you need more parts.

I have to add that he says that parts for the 1000 model are not in good supply. (Hence the 1200, not the 1000 drums - but my uncle says they are interchangeable and he's been a Datsun/Nissan mechanic for 30-40 years - now retired.)
So thanks very much once again and I certainly know that you guys provide excellent support for anyone seeking help!
A nice response Claudio and happy to hear all worked out in the end

If you are still chasing drums or want spares I have some. I am in Adelaide also.

I've just finished making a disc brake setup using VS Commodore fronts so the drums are just sitting around waiting for another chance at life
