A15 1000 Ute, Custom build

Hi All, I'm new to this site and relatively new to Dato's. I'm just finishing off my first Datsun project, which is a 2 year build of a heavily customised 1000 ute. It's the typical rebuild story, where a 6 week touch up turned into a 24 month overhall and a lot more dollars then I care to admit. I'm nearly finished the job, but if anyone's interested I've got some pics and can run through the build so far? Thanks to whoever put the forum together. There doesn't seem to be too many 1000's left, so it's great to be able to share info and images. Cheers
welcome to the 1K Clan, Is this one that was bought with mag wheels about 3 years back?

Yep, it had mags.....and Tiger Mica gold paint (commo colour), custom grille, custom rear with commo wagon tail lights (they must've liked commodores), XU1 flutes in the front guards, alloy drop tank, cobra race seats and harnesses, tasmanian oak lined tray, hard tray cover with tilt, lowered suspension, new carpets, resprayed interior, timber steering wheel and gear knob, full set of gauges. It also had a huge XYGT rear spoiler, but I took that off cause it was just too wide. The body looks to be a bare metal resto, with all rust removed. Looking inside doors and inside the tray they've done some tidy welding.

These are from my phone camera in low light, so not very clear. I'll take some proper ones and update them.
When i read commo tail light i thought oh no but they look tastfully done

That custom grille looks very clean.

Im going to have to agree I was dumbfounded when you said C-whore rearlights
but it actually looks awesome with those lights and the smoothed out look.
If you use adhesive chrome dressing strip on the top and bottom of the rear
tailights it will break up the mass of one colour and really bring out that retro cool
that belongs to that era.

Wheels, mirror and side indicator change will make a huge difference also
but the quality of the work throughout looks like a really good buy and a great
base to cosmetically modify to bring out the era look it deserves and have a truly
unique example of one of the best 1000 utes around. The grille looks great and if
you get an early "D" insignia or better a "datsun" it will rock!

A shaved and ported head to top it off

It's just sitting on top. Everything was checked, rechecked and when it was right.....it was checked again.

That is one sweet looking ute. A1 job mate
Cheers mate. Does anyone know much about heaters in Dato's? Were they standard in all 1000's or just a few models?
The Heaters were an option, Pretty much everything was an option.

Some things that we think of as normal that were options on 1000's are...
Heater, Radio, Clock, Even carpet was an option if you were buying a 1000 in STD trim.
It even lists Safety belts an an option, Wow.
There is a page and a half full of options in one of the datsun service bullitens I have here.

Although I have a sales brochure from England that claims heater to be standard. so I guess it would depend on what country the car was bought in.

Optional heater that explains why I haven't seen others. Datsun were keeping it simple back in the day. Thanks for the info
Heaters pop up on ebay and yahoo every so often.

Here is a pic of a 1000 heater so you know one when you see it on ebay.

That's not what i have in my 1000. It doesn't look like the 1200 heater images on techwiki either. I'll take a photo when I pick it up from a mate and see if anyone recognises it.
