1000 nolathane bushes

does any one no what model transit van bushes were used any help would be greate cheers chris
Just go with the gemmy bushes Chris, had a better look today and they seem all good just a little larger in diameter.
Anyway, does anyone know how to get out the upper control arm bushes? They are starting to seem impossible! The splined metal outter refuses to budge.
So I spent the day drilling and pulling getting those old rubbers out. Well I kinda regret it now haha. None of the bushes I bought are a straight fit and it's going to be a bit more of a drama than I originally thought. Oh well I'll stick with it. Will post up some pics tomorrow of how to get them out if anyone is going to have a go at fitting new ones.
Cheers
The simplest of jobs can take all day sometimes and you find yourself wondering "Why won't this just work?"
I'd be keen to see where you got to, Im thinking of refreshing my front suspension sometime in the future.
It would be good to have an idea of what troubles im in for.

yea be good to see some photo's, do you think that you could throw the bushings in the lathe to trim/redrill them?? or are they to soft?

I did a Commodore rear once, and ended up drilling the rubber out untill I could bash them through. It took a while but did no damage to the controll arm.

If all else fails, or no one can come up with anything better, this will work.

Maby cut a section out with a hack saw blade so the rubber can be pushed out easily.

An other thought, how about one of thoes drill bits that saw, you can get them at bunnings, you kind of file out the hole after it drills through, their usually gold in color.
What I did (with no damage to the arm at all) was drill around the crush tube with a 4mm or 5mm bit. This will take a while. Then get a long bolt that will fit through the crush tube, put a couple of big washers on it on one end, and a large socket on the other with some more washers, and wind on the nut slowly. This will press it out no worries, the idea is that the bush is being pushed into the socket. When you get it out far enough you can just pull on it with some grips

Also I can confirm Datsun 1200 lower control arm bushes will fit both our upper and lower control arms. The crush tube that is supplied will not fit the lower control arm bolt, the crush tube that came with those Gemini bushes works PERFECT.
