best nissan engine conversion 1000

Don't forget about the A15. As I said before, people are getting crazy power out of this beast of an engine. I'm being honest when I say If I had my time over again, there would be a boosted A15 in my little 1000.

This conversion will be simple compared to all the other options that we have spoken about. With the money you will save, the sky is the limit for power. Your conversion will take a 10th of the time as any other option. You can always add fuel injection, turbo and I'm sure A/C no problems. Best of all it's a Datsun engine. Check this out

A15 into 10's

Found this, looks like you might be able to get an injected a15 easy in Thailand

The A15 is a 1.5 liter (1488 cc) engine produced from 1979 through 1998 (and still in production in 2009 for the Malaysian built Vanette C22). The stroke was increased by 5 mm from the A14 engine's 77 mm to now measure 82 mm. It produces 80 hp (60 kW). It used a different block casting, but the same "tall-block" deck height as the A14. In the Roadstar it's capable of 49 mpg (17,3 km/L).

A fuel injected version of the A15 (A15E) was offered in Asian markets.

Applications:

* Nissan Sunny B310 ("Datsun 210"
* Nissan Cherry F10 ("Datsun F10"
* Sportstar and Roadstar utes (model B120) from Nissan New Zealand [4]
* Nissan Vanette
GTi-t KB10
A series all the way I agree, even a mazda twin cam head fits them with a little work
The owner of this engine is making the hard to make bits so others can do the conversion
these parts are the front cover with seals and head gasket.

hi guys,
just about to purchase ca18de,

so before i purchase i want to rethink....

if i buy an sr20det will it fit???
will it still handle ok???

what other issues may i face?

all opinions welcome...
cheers
SR wont fit unfortunately unless you get a dry sump setup and electric waterpump to clear the radiator but still a very long engine to fit properly. The ca is very compact in comparison and way shorter in height.

Have you thought about a cd20et engine? its a diesel turbo ca type engine that gives excellent economy, easy enough to find in Thailand and very stout design with alloy head. Would be different and very powerful with more boost.

All CA, CD engines have same boxes to match up. However you need to source a stumpy box not that long one on the SR picture you posted, stumpy boxes are found in navara and r30 skylines.

i just got a ca18de,
the guy whos supplying it wants to put a ld28 short box on it,

is this suitable?
As you can see on the yellow tunnel below the position of the
long box compared to where the stock would sit, the stumpy
71b boxes would be better than the butchery here but sometimes
thats the only choice as the stumpy boxes are rarer.

get a picture of the box he is offering as above you can see
the difference between normal 71c and stumpy 71b on foreground
the 71c stumpy not pictured is in between these 2 boxes above
in gear lever position and the best choice for its late internals

the one he is offering resembles the short one in your picture,
so its definately a stumpy,
the box is ld28...he did say something about from a turbo engine....its also got "nv" written on it....
i will get some pics today,
so my question is is it suitable with the ca18?
All 71 series boxes b or c are suitable but need to get ca18det, ca20, cd20 or any ca bellhousing to swap it with the L series one that one has or any other 71 series box uses thats not related to CA and CD engines
