I don't have any engine bay shots at all. I'll have a sticky beak in the morning then if I have no luck, I'll let the "bush mechanics" (Neil's words!) at it at the bbq.

Maybe doesnt have a PCV valve as prob previous owner used a combo of A10 and A12? Could have blocked the engine breather with a welsh plug as had done on my A12 on time. Any engine pics on the inlet ex side to see?

I didn't consider a catch can. Chris (Clyons8) suggested checking/replacing the pcv valve, which I never thought of either. Seeing as that's the easiest (and cheapest) possibile cause/fix, I'll have a go a that first.

can try a PCV system, the road draught vent system is ok, but if your motor is shagged, not much will stop it breathing..

i'd run a catch can, im unsure why its doing it but running a remote catch can will least stop it hitting your exhaust

I'm just about over having my cabin fill with smoke from oil hitting the exhaust manifold, creating a smokescreen AND periodically cleaning the little aftermarket filter on top of the rocker cover! Why is my A12 breathing so much oil? I'm constantly...

the 56 box is no stronger, just a better setup, and the 1200 clutch is so much bigger than the 1000 one if you upgrade that too..

It is an a12, and chances are I will be warming it up a little, so I might have to go for the upgraded gearbox. Are the 1200 boxes stronger? Don't worry about the spare, thanks for the offer but I don't have the locating cup or anything so probably best...

Yep, me too. I've posted some pretty large items recently cheaper (a complete intake manifold from a Vitara) for $30, but it cost me $20 to send a dizzy through Aus Post! Their quotes are pretty reasonable and they discount the freight cost 25% if you...

As dundee said Its botched up I'd personally fit the 1200 box if its more than a stocker If she's as nana intended put a 1000 cable back in it... remove the firewall plate and the adaptor on the box I might have a spare if you can't find one.... the...

If you have no luck you could try a marine cable specialist. http://www.marinecontrolsystems.com.au/cables.html These guys made a custom handbrake cable for my little brothers hilux, so im sure there would be other places that do the same.

that looks like a 1000 cable, a 1200ish firewall mount, and the picture is a 1000 box with a made up bracket on it.. best fix.. find a 1200 box and cable,(lighter more reliable and available) other fix, get rid of the 1200 firewall mount, and buy a...
