As light as the twin cam head but cheaper for power and outlay

How the HELL did I miss this?!? Are you fair dinkum Mike??
When the "D" hits your eye, like a txt smiley guy...
Its pretty impressive and the 8v is quite underrated as it was built
for max torque and economy from 1.5-5.5k rpm in lighter package
than the heavier 16v ca18de and det versions

How does the CA16DE rate in comparison D?
When the "D" hits your eye, like a txt smiley guy...
78mm bores are small and apparantely the block is heavier than the 83mm bore ca18de block due to thicker casting
around the bores so they could just bore it out when going to ca18.

Still all the ca16de engines Ive seen all had over 340,000kms on them and no main bearing ladder brace due to
less room in FWD configuration and goes to show the CA block is quite sturdy with all the webbing it has so
if an A15 engine like all A series with non counterweigh crankshaft can rev to 10,000rpm in drag racing then
theres no reason why a +1.6 mm more stroke than the A15 needs a main ladder brace just ARP studs is enough.

The beauty about all these engines is the 5 speed is bolt on.

Got word from the horses mouth on some details of the beast

The duration of my cams is 321 degrees advertised. Myself and two friends also made the entire quad throttle set up oursevles including our own trumpets, manifold, and fuel rail. The car weighs 725 kilo's without me in it due to fibreglass panels I also made and aluminium door skins. I have a very small budget, much less than the average hillclimber does to try and circuit race with, so i usually end up making as much as i can myself. My CA runs Tighe Cams custom ground in Brisbane, and I actually run solid lifters i made myself from tool steel in a lathe ! I machined up a small piston for each valve that slots into the bucket and replaces the guts of the hydraulic lifter, i had to machine all 16 of these to the precise sizes to get the exact valve clearance i need for each valve, very time consuming, but its all i could afford.

321 degree camshafts my goodness the CA has some potential still!  especially considering the Tomei and HKS best solid pro cams are 312 duration and 11mm lift.

Hey all !! I can't believe i stumbled across this photo of me at wakefield earler this year !! Yup, thats me and my trusty little 1000 "David" (David and Goliath). The little CA now has a microtech ECU, four coils (no dizzy) and i hand made a complete set of solid lifters and a Quad throttle body set up. I have a heap of engine bay pics if anyone still wants to see them. In any case i'm very glad my little car has brought so much attention and more people appreciate it than just me .

Cheers

P.S. Here is the video footage from the races on that day, its a long video i know, but stick with it, the best race starts at 5:35 where i have a big tussle with a VE 6 litre ex 12 hour car. enjoy !

Hey again, sorry my post didnt make a great deal of sense, my name is Aden, but my Datto's name is David. lol, David the Datto.
My car runs a ca18det gearbox, and the lotus that started at the rear of the grid in the last race i am pretty sure is supercharged, the thing is mental and does something rediculous like 59 seconds around Wakefield. Faster than a v8 supercar.
ADEN YOU CAN DRIVE

thought that Lotus had boost
