I did a Commodore rear once, and ended up drilling the rubber out untill I could bash them through. It took a while but did no damage to the controll arm.
If all else fails, or no one can come up with anything better, this will work.
Maby cut a section out with a hack saw blade so the rubber can be pushed out easily.
An other thought, how about one of thoes drill bits that saw, you can get them at bunnings, you kind of file out the hole after it drills through, their usually gold in color.
