know this datto?

Hey guys,
even when i have no ambition or more accurately no money to buy a new car, i always find myself looking anyway.. an auction that has now ended on ebay was for a "datsun 1000 turbo" it was a maroon 4 door with a light blue front end and an a12 with a draw through turbo setup. did anybody on here contact the seller? see it? buy it? or have any history on the car? i was tempted.. and would like to know where it ends up. the car was listed as being in currency creek just past goolwa in south australia.

Here is a link to the ebay auction.

1967 Datsun B10 2 Door.
Sure, I know a bit about it.

The body is a little shabby (and boggy) with 90 percent of the elaborate paintwork achieved with a carton of spray paint rattle cans. I think the car was orginially baby blue.

The car was for sale at the beginning of the year for $400.00 because that was what it was worth, this was before someone attached a turbo motor to it and slapped some paint down in the bay. The turbo kit looks to be the setup that supafatto was running, well at least the feed pipe into the intake manifold looks identical.

If anyone here missed out on it don't be too disheartened, it's okay, but $1800.00 is a little on the eager side, I'd say a couple people really wanted it. Maybe for a bit of fun to smash around a course in but it ain't no gem.

Having said that the current owner (who just sold it) has installed an engine so at least it's a runner now.
Paddy were you after a 1000? There was one for sale (4 dr 69) along Regency road that I was pursueing a year or so ago. He wanted $1700.00 though and for me it was worth about $1000.

I can send some pictures and details if you were keen on it. The body was straight (although professionally painted matt black) and it looked ok.
on the pics looks like it was originally red and started the transition to baby blue
if you look at the engine bay and front area its oversprayed with the blue.

I personally think 1Ks are undervalued and this price is decent considering that
you pick up ke71 crapboxes for more these days.

It was blue, then painted red, then painted back to blue albeit a lighter shade.

Look at the window frame of the back window. Blue.

Turbo motor at $1200-1500, sure it's about right

.
what a dill to not leave it blue, its one of the most unique colours
for a 1k let alone any old car out there.

A well setup turbo A series is worth more than an import SR20DET
in my eyes now, although I used to think the opposite.

it's been said before but datsun1000.com really is one of the most informative forums on the web, considering how relatively small it is.
clyons8, i am keen on pics and details. i am going to look at one in belair on thursday so would be good to have a another back up if that one has a few rusty surprises. I have your old white 4 door (rhp-499) sitting in my grandparents backyard. i bought your old rig off ebay with plans to use it as a donor car for a more complete 1k i am hoping to buy, and then if i can bring myelf to seperate with them, was going to see what bits and pieces i could sell off it. But if i had the time and tools the white four door really is a half decent shell the only real rust of concern is the spare boot well and the rear quarter.
You had better send me your email address again paddy. I think I had it somewhere but can't seem to find it.

The place was a spray paint shop that was owned by an egyptian (?) guy, turns out he's the uncle of 1000coupe a member off datsun1200.com. Aaanyway the car was very straight and with a decent interior I think would be a cool little rig. I can tell you the exact shop and location but I don't have the numbers anymore. You could probably drop in and ask about it.

I just looked at the photo's and they are older that I said, dated sept 2009. So if it's still there which is very likely, he'd almost certainly let it go for cheap. I was keen on it but didn;t have the money he was asking. I did feel he was negotiable but after a while I got side tracked and left it alone.
