Hello,
New to the forum and happy to have found you guys.  I have a 1000 ute, I have started the process of stripping it back to see what surprises await.  The is my first car resto so I have much to learn.  I go the car for my sons first car.  He is only 13 so I have some time.  I have many ideas of what to do but today just hello!

Welcome Rowbro, it is good to see another 1000 local to me.
 
I started my first car resto with a 1000 ute as well, They are nice and simple so you should be able to do most of the work yourself.
 
Probably the most important bit of advice I can offer you is to just take your time and do each step to the best of your ability and weld in new metal instead of using body filler where you can.
 
Also when I first bought my 1000 ute I was a little unsure about which parts were hard to get and which parts were common,
So sometimes I spent my money on the wrong ebay auctions when I only had enough money for one listing.
Lenses and steering/suspension components will be the hardest parts to source.
They do show up on ebay and within the forums but If you see them I would suggest that you invest as you find them.
By the time you finish your resto you should have all the parts you need.
Most other parts will be easy enough to find but if you are unsure please ask for help.

Thanks for the heads up.  I will get some photos up soon and start a new thread.  I would love to know how many parts are comparable between the 1000 & 1200?

cool car for a first time owner!
 
Almost everything (except doors - 4 door sedans use the same doors) and all mechanical parts interchange
so youre in luck. There are some pics of utes for reference, In my eyes a good 1 litre engine, lowered with
13 steelies with whitewalls, guard mirrors and seats with head rest is a perfect ute.
Any more seats and his mates will want a ride and any more power is not worth it till experienced as its
the lightest 1000 of all and they can be a rocket with very light rears.

I have been watching the website from the sideline for a while now and i like what i hear and see.
It's good to see such an array of info being thrown back and forth amongst new and old members.
I myself have been working on a project for the last 7 years with an obsession to complete it against all people saying it cant be done.
Enough of that subject as to say i bought a 2 door from Canberra for a set of clean guards for the project.
After getting the car home and stripping it down i realized it was too clean to strip for good so i have started to rebuild it.
I sourced an a15 motor and have had it rebuilt into a very very warm sleeper.
I also had the upholstery redone in white(not a really good job but its only going to be a daily driver).
A new clutch and pressure plate were bought but i havn't found the box yet as i would like a 5 coga but which one?
Also had the brakes rebuilt (drums front and back) but havn't been able to work out from the web site which conversion to use as there are to many conflicting stories.
Have been looking for twelve months for a set of old school wheels as new ones dont look right ( in my opinion) on an old school car.
Have purchased new front and rear glass rubbers but not the glass as i"ll wait for the final assembly.
I have also bought a couple of cheap load rated engine stands for a rotissiere to work on the body as a blaster these days is a bit dear by the time you pay for a panelbeater and a spray job.
XXBTT should tell you whats in my 7 year project car which is a 2 door sedan,more photo"s to come later.

Sounds like you have it sorted. And all is sounding nice. I cannot help much with parts info But I am pretty handy with arty stuff, graphics, drawing, and painting(not air brushing, yet!!)
I have heard that you can now get soda blasting at home, not sure how much but DIY at such an important step, I would rather the job done, but I am a noob.
Looking forward to some picks, as the drag car pics look great
