As from 1st January, 1970 all vehicles sold in Australia were fitted with a "compliance plate"
The date stamped into these plates refer to the month and year the vehicle arrived in Australia.
As a rule Two months should be deducted from the compliance date to calculate the production date.
So I would guess your car would be a 1969 model if it never had a compliance date.
Unfortunatley what I have listed on the page andrewzuku linked to is all the info I have on chassis numbers.
The only other way I know how to I.D. a year model is if the car has original paint, then you can use the guard indicators as a year I.D.. (short 1969 or long 1970).
If the paint is not original then you won't know if the guards are originaly from that car.
I have also listed chassis numbers for KB10 here. (im assuming your car is a KB10 from your user pic).
http://www.datsun1000.com/ModelView.asp?ModelID=23&ModelsCategoryID=1&FamilyID=2I havn't been in the 1000 scene all that long so maybe you could post some pics of your car and other 1000 owners might be able to narrow it down further.
