I think you are correct, It looks like it fits very well.
How does it stay in there?

Yes fits really well and is fixed by the screw to hold tire support.
My tire support has already been changed, if I saw a picture of tire support still in original State could be better as the key is pressed.
Does anyone have a tire support without being changed ?
Note: Excuse my English writing, I am using the Google Translator in Portugal speaks Portuguese.

Your english is good.
If you can't get a tire support, can you weld a new one on?
You could use a piece of pipe.
Also, for your interest we uploaded a datsun 1000 dealers card in portugese to our vintage press section last week.
And for everyone else there should be an english version up in the next few weeks. (when ever it arrives in the post)
