My B20 Ute resto

ha ha Yeah I know what you mean, Yeah thats one little problem I'm finding at the moment with my ute, I took it for a drive in the yard and the back is locking up before the front, I've got to bleed it again and maybe I might pop into brakeland in twba next week when I'm on holidays to try to see what m/cyl I can use. I wanted to get a 120y booster but I think it might hit the wheel well. I'll see what photo's I have of 120y's to see if it is the same. My mate is a dato expert and he might be able to check.
120Y's have the exact rear slave cylinders as 1000's. (My 1000 diff has 120Y slaves in it now)
A 120Y front disc and master Cylinder should work out perfect.

---------------------------------------------------EDIT----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry I misread your post, mikey.
Looks like you need to see the brake guys to see which master cyl to use.

I got new slaves for the rear about two weeks ago.
1000's 1200's and 120y's share rear slaves, I wouldn't be suprised if that list was shared with other models.

I will bring that master cyl and front disc set up with me on fri, it should have you all sorted out brake wise.
I think I have 1200 discs in the garrage as well. either way we should both be able do do disc conversions with what's there.

yea sweet as i just have to make sure the whole setup is from one model if you know what i meanlol

Nuh I dont know him, I've met the boss only but I cant remember his name, top bloke I think, he openned the shop late on a saturday cause I had to drop off a morris minor m/cyl and some wheel cyl for them to sleave and kit. I was really happy with them and the price was bloody good. I havent touched my m/cyl yet, I'm just finishing off my body work then I'll get back onto my brakes. I want a duel m/cyl just for safety but I want to find the right one for the size of the brakes. I had a look at the photo's i've got and I've got a photo of the disc I think, but the caliper is really tricky, the split pin design is something toyotas use but I'll keep looking. The hub looks definately like a 120y/1200 coupe hub, it doesnt look like a stanza cause they have a small space for where the disc bolts onto the hub. I'll keep looking for you. Cheers

thanks, i dont think the caliper is off a datsun i've searched though every picture on 1200.com and google lol

finally found the info you guys might be interested in for the Pinnie front end

Please note heavier Renault 12 if you look up the DBA catalogue I think had
thinner solid discs and the car weighed more than a 1000.
So the pinnie rear discs should be more than adequate...

Oh yes its all in and done! I re drilled 3 of the 4 holes in the caliper braket, slid the disk over the hub bolted on the vs rear caliper, got brake hoses made up with a fitting for the commo caliper at one end and the 1000 brake lines at the other, used a 1200 duel resivour disk master cylinder, blocked off the rear line outlet on the firewall mounted splitter so it split the pressure to the front brakes only, made an extention line from the rear fitting on the master cylinder directly to the rear line and hey presto! been driving on it for a few weeks   If you want pics or and more info give us a yell -- Jake

thought i'd give an update haven't done sweet fa i've worked every single day for the past 6 weeks and the rotor is a no go. by the time i talked to an engineer who had a clue he said the weight was the biggest issue, said it was borderline and didn't really wanna do it if i had a 4-door probably wouldn't of had a drama.

so i've been researching the suzuki gti g13b turbo conversion, trying to find a motor at the moment and deciding on what gearbox to use for the rear wheel drive conversion.

also got my stuff for the custom control arm so as soon as i get a day off i can get cracking on that

i need some 31 brackets...
that ebay stuff is getting silly...
should be able to get them for next to nothing at a wreckers mike

here's a comparo photo with a standard shock. eyelets are the same size which i was pleased about  so will take sweet fa to mount up, spacer for the top and custom lower arm setup

im not sure how they'll go on the street. unsure if they have a big enough stroke, for a lowered car i think they should be fine. also not sure how the standard mounting system will cope with the added weight of having a coil over shock setup, hopefully it should be able to cope but i dunno opinions on this would be much appreciated?!

yea they're certainly shiny lol suicide bonnet would solve the issue of the bonnet coming undone and smashing the roof lol. i wont be changing any of the 1k aesthetics i like how its sitting now, after suspension is sorted all money being spent on this wll be going towards rwhp hehe

coilovers look great! can you buy them ready made or was it a custom job?
they were just what i found on the internet nothing custom all from the same shop, they dont sell them in a kit which sucks but its wasn't hard to find what coilover kit and springs suited a lot of hot rodders and stuff use these setups apparently. there is also fair few different damper settings to choose from as well which is good. think they ended up costing me a bit less than 500 dollars including delivery, i was sposed to get some bilsteins for the back to but cancelled them as they were stuffing me around would of been here a month ago if it wasn't for them

decided that this ute will be getting a quick do over (re-paint and removing any rust) and be used as my daily/work car. so will be sticking with the a12 with the single weber, will be just low with wide wheels and half decent paint job. also will be used to test my shock setups

the second ute i own (the better of the 2) will be getting the g13b turbo heart transplant and i'll be aiming for 300rwhp or more
