I am a VSCCS Engineer., Anyone interested in getting their car engineered in NSW?

Hey guys, I am new to this forum but not new to datsuns.  Ive had at least 10 myself...

With permission I am 'promoting' my services to the members of this forum.

I am happy to answer some questions people have relating to the registration/engineering process we have in N.S.W but please dont hammer me with the easy questions, just some of the more difficult ones I can help you with.

I am a Licensed VSCCS Certifier.  This is the 'Engineering' system currently in place for registration of modified/altered vehicles in N.S.W

My name is Matthew Rog, my business is M.R CORP and I am an Automotive Engineer.

I am unrestriced in compliance of vehicles of less that 4.5 ton including commercial vehicles.

Anyway guys feel free to post up a few question and I will answer them as best as I can.  Otherwise pm me or call me if you are ready to go ahead with first inspections etc.

Only thing I have heard about the qld system is I can apply to certify for qld cars...  The rules are slightly different but the compliance procedures are very similar.  Would this be of much use to Queenslanders?  Its a long drive and there are always some things that need changing.
not really 2 drives to sydney is a bit of a pain lol but could be fun i guess, its good to have someone on here that knows what there talking about when it comes to something getting engineered. the local guy where i am is useless, just tells me to do it and he'll come have a look

Ok well I will have a look into the compliance of Qld cars and see what I can do.
I had a giggle, bung him in the Tech section.. like ask an expert, like the segments they have on the radio.. when a Police officer comes on the radio so you can ask questions..

Welcome Matt, good to have you aboard...
haha that'd be good

i got a question about disc brake upgrades for doing an engine conversion or just want the security of having disk brakes but not sure how to word it.

basically is there a criteria you have to follow to upgrade to calipers and disk's?? does the car you want to use the disk brake setup from have to be a similar weight? can you just adapt a setup from say a 4cyl turbo car? i assume you cant mix and match calipers and rotors?

sorry for the million questions lol but figured it be better to have a few in there so you get where im coming from. since there's no bolt in upgrade from another model so this gets discussed a lot

There is a code of practise to follow called VSB14.  Then look under the 'brakes' section.

Basically try to take the brake system in its entirity from a vehicle with a ≥ (equal to, or greather than) mass and power output.

You can mix and match calipers and brakes etc, however more extensive testing will then be required.  Nothing to crazy for cars built before 1977 but still more intense that your regular pink slip test.

There are many different ways to do this legally however each car is going to be somewhat unique when compared to general rules and for that reason you would need to consult a Engineer/Certifier who can see the car in person and make a judgement for you.
thanks for the info! pretty straight forward, i want to adapt a disk brake setup from a turbo s13 silvia but use 120y small can booster

What are SA rules like I heard they are pretty easy?
Love one of these to play with in a 1000 coupe with longer wheelbase
During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act, Big Brother is watching you - George Orwell 'Most Jews do not like to admit it, but our god is Lucifer -- so I wasn't lying -- and we are his chosen people. Lucifer is very much alive.'"  Harold Rosenthal http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=24688
I am unsure of the SA rules sorry.
hey matt

just was on the 1200 forum reading and you said the 1200 ute is classified as a commercial vehicle, would this mean the b20 would be classified as a commercial vehicle to?

just would like to know what you think about a naturally aspirated 12a rotary in a b20? would there be a chance of getting it passed?

As I said in the other post if the difference in weight between unladden and GVM is more than twice the weight of 68kg per passenger seat then yes, it would be considered a goods vehicle/commercial Vehicle.

Another way to put it - If more than half of the usable load weight is left for goods(not passengers) the vehicle is considered a goods vehicle.

This is not an exhaustive answer and in your particular case I am unsure as you are in QLD.  I would usually do some researching and inquiries before giving out advice on these sort of things...
yea i actually remember reading that, my memory is bad

if its classified as a commercial vehicle i dont see why you couldn't put a n/a 12a in it, the engineer i was talkin to must of been going off that chart either way i'll have to ring someone i guess
