link to pics, you will notice the inner lips have been very carefully flared, took about 3-4 hours to get right, perfectly straight without losing the smooth radiused transitions, still keeping guard rigidity is important. This modification is my 5th time done to 1000s, you cannot notice the difference from stock once painted unless you look hard, for reference look at Matthews vb10 which was my ex-van, no mag wheels touch the guards unlike before.
There to fit larger mag wheels once you lower a 1000 no matter the offset the original inner lip touches with wheels over 5.5 inches, this area requires careful work when doing it but makes your 1000 a joy for wheel choices afterwards, using a C channel protector strip finishes them off either in chrome or black.
 
I do the same thing for the rear guards instead of lipping them inwards as I dont like anything getting trapped on the inside of the inner lips even after using silicon moisture always gets in that way. Just a note when doing the rear, its much harder again due to dual panels unlike the front guards.

The bonnet is perfect original straight condition unlike the guards this thing is like NOS.
