Disc Brakes , KB10

Hi All this has I am sure been covered many times but want to put disc brakes on the front of my car. I want to keep the 12 inch mags I am running on it now what is involved with using  disc set up from a 1200?120Y/Sunny ??? and does  anyone have any tremplates pics  of this conversion or tips on any problems I may come accross cheers....... Peter
I have been a long time member of the 1200 club but found this site. As I have a coupe this is where I should be.
Keeping the 12" rims will be hard.

There are a couple of options available, but they all require that you upsize the rims to at least 13" diameter.

Maddat do a bolt in setup. I haven't used it, but like most of their stuff its probably pretty good.

You can try the sigma setup that others have done. Im not familiar with that setup but Im sure others can fill in that blank.

Even with my setup (custom hubs), I still need to run 13" rims at least, and even then not all 13"s will fit.

Hi Mate

Thanks heaps for putting up a reply had all but given up.... I have been pondering thye Madat kit but I like the 12's on the car and do want to keep it that way if I can but may have to go to 13's I guess if all else fails anyway cheers Peter

Just double check the maddat kit as I have one and have to run 14" rims to clear calipers.
Hi Peter,

The 120y or 1200 coupe conversion works okay, these have a matchbox size brake pad. The 120y post 1976 also had some of the PBR DB1045 (?) calipers which were a better option. This same caliper is featured on the SIGMA GE which is the suggestion aforementioned.

I had my templates copied to laser cut but have had a catastrophic computer failure and lost absolutely everything including the caliper bracket templates.

I am happy with the brakes however have not tested them rigorously.
As you know the 120y and 1200 came with 12 inch wheels standard so the brake size is just right albeit for a heavier vehicle.
Hi guys  thanks for your comments I am going to go with the 1200 disc setup my kb10 has been in my family since it was 12 months old so not into wild mods or blown engines I am after a nice set up for the 1400 with the webbers that is all cheers Peter

How'd you go with the 1200 disc setup? I'm hoping to keep 12's on mine too if I can but will need more stopping power
.
just about there with it has been an easy conversion but I have had other projects keeping me busy will post pics soon.
