Datsun VB10 from Suzuki, long term project

Ive decided that I will never own a VB10 again at least in Okinawa
due to the rust and cost of transportation to these remote Islands.
Theres gazilllions of these little critters in stock form and panels
and parts are littered everywhere with great upgrade-ability.
They are very comfortable have retro seats and interior, no rattles,
wind noise or issues with seals, well put together for a suzuki and
bonus is AWD are available to convert to RWD only with some
tinkering as done to other east west AWD cars made RWD only.
This I could fix in the future as they are cheap at 200aud for one
with worn engine, gear issues or just moving up to newer models.

Its not a datsun and far from a replica of a VB so I should really call
it a pseudo VB10 from the look and feel of it at least.

Introducing the Suzuki Lapin wagon, still sold in Japan new with its
introduction in 2002 and still selling new today!

The plan is late chromed lapin grille with datsun 1000 emblem, simple stainless wrap around
front bumpers or bumperettes (have a Stainless Steel master craftsman here), hot rod peep mirrors,
welded up rear doors and one piece glass, bolt on flares with 15 inch old school wheels etc.

For the engine Im looking at a variety of options as the early ones come with K6 engines which
bolt up the 3 or 4 cylinder K series in many flavours and power options.
So far the 95hp 1400cc K14B looks like a good option with factory K10A turbo options.
Manual gearbox in 5 speed or cvt paddle shift also possible from the new works alto models.

some further information...from wiki
The first-generation Alto Lapin was introduced in January 2002 with three trims, "G","X" and "X2". The car is powered by the Suzuki's K6A kei car engine, 0.66 L naturally aspirated (40 kW / 54 hp) with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The default transmission is a four-speed automatic.

In October 2002, Suzuki launched the "Turbo". It has a turbocharged 44 kW (60 hp) motor and a five-speed manual option.
In September 2003, the series II model was introduced and two new versions "SS" and "L" were added.
In October 2004, the series III model was introduced and "L" discontinued.
In December 2005, the series IV model was introduced and the canvas top version was discontinued.
In April 2006, the series V model introduced and round-shape headlamps "L" added."X2" version discontinued.
In May 2007, the series VI model introduced and received new shape front grill.

early interior with later steering wheel would be just nice and seats are available in all kinds of retro options

later steering that also has a wooden walnut option that I cant find atm

aftermarket grille and bonnets options

I also like the Daihatsu Mira Moca model

which can be clad with Daihatsu Gino bits but it will be more of a mini look which it copies

Yet will use maybe the bumpers and wheels from the Gino if I cant get the SS ones made

but the "LAPIN" is truer to the VB lines

The good news is Nissan uses a rebadged model of some suzuki Kei cars so makes it a little more passable

also the seats for some Lapin models are using a Rabbit which is the early emblem for datsuns
as in fast light and agile

Haha cool as I really like that last one. Did you photoshop the 'D' emblem? And the black grill? I definately think that last ones grill would be the way to go, suits the simpleness of a 1k front end.

Oh how i miss luxury at the moment as our vb10 is the only running car for the family at the moment!
nah were not complaining we love it!

unfortunately the father in law reversed into the back of it a couple of days ago, just missing the taillight (thanks goodness) but yea enough to draw a tear.

the percs of it being daily driver...

Hope you still end up doing a cvb10! A convertible 1000 that is!!
Actually was already black grille just using paint so very bad effort putting the badge on
if I used photoshop would be much better than this kids effort.
I actually like this grille in full chrome not the rest too modern looking.

These wheels and dog bowls (actually Matt hows your beast of a pooch what a toad killer! best Aussie pet anyone could own!) also chrome door handles

love the chocolates interior and already coming up in yahoo auctions!

Woodie sides but no back door, needs to be a van like this one!

Heres one for the Yut lovers or B20 freaks

You tell me this is not a 1000 rear end copy!!!!

also convertible is looking as a good base

here is the powerplant I have in mind instead of the 660cc big block
a K14b 1400cc also avail as a crate motor

sorry to hear about the damage, I cant believe parents dont see how
important other peeps classic cars are and pay more attention when
your driveway is so darn vast and massive.

These critters will never be a replacement for the 1K
but at least I can get a miniture wagon to play with and the big task
is finding an AWD one as I want RWD only unless I can get LSDs
front and rear with more bias towards the rear like a GTR and also
bolt on flares will be needed as Im planning for deep dish with suitable
wider rubber so its sits squat and has no chance of rolling.

alloy or steelies still not sure
