pic to make sure but repairing and straightening rails is not an issue in the old days before the laws of stupidity put out nowto avoid old cars on the road. You can make them stronger as well with new sections some extra plating and good welding skills using a spot welder and TIG. Tig is incredible for low heat and you can use extra seam welding like on rallye cars. Look up online how many old cars have their bent rails fixed and strenghthened rather than rid an old classic.

Any panel shop with a jig can square it up and reweld/strengthen.

The way I look at it is if you get a shell for $500 you will probably end up up with rust anyway! Unless you get lucky but at near 50yrs old it will be hard. It just comes down to budget I guess, I got a wagon I'm wrecking with a good shell that your welcome to have once stripped! If you check my pics you will see what hides behind paint on what you would have thought was a clean ute!!! Oh how wrong I was but it is mint now!
