Drum brakes dragging with handbrake

After taking the handbrake off it does not release properly, leaving me with dragging drums, and then by the end of my drive to work they are well and truly locking up. A quick look at the 1200 site shows there are return springs for the handbrake lever at the drums. Is it the same case for the 1000 and I have misplaced them? I have stopped using the handbrake for now.

You can go through the pages one by one in that link.
 
Page 165 (next page from where the link takes you) shows some return springs in the top right image.
So if you are missing these then it looks like you have some springs to find/install.

Shame I threw away all my spare parts before finishing a proper shakedown of the car. I I have seen extension spring kits that would something similar to these.

I think im only 1% of ddgonzal's helpfulness.
 
I dont think the spring would need to be 1000 specific.
Atleast you know what you need to do to sort your issue.
