ive had the ute for about three years and didnt know what I wanted to do with it.
Im wanting to find out what it would cost me to do up the beast?
Also want to find out whats not original about it?
Aside from the obvious Wheels and roll bar, I would say the indicators on your guards are the only part that stands out as not standard.

Datsun 1600 indicators are an exact match for the datsun 1000 1970 indicators. these will be the ones to get if you are looking for an easy buy.
They mount just below the body line that runs along the length of your ute and the centre of the indicator is mounted roughly inline with the very front edge of your front tyre, have a look through the vintage press section to see some examples.

Most datsun 1000 parts are hard to find now so doing it up is a matter of buying what you can when you see it,
Even if you have all the money for your restore you will still need time for parts to show up on ebay ect.
I have been spending around $100 a week since I have owned my car and in a very short time have collected a giant stash of parts for my build.

Fixing up the motor will cost you the same as any datsun.

Do you have any pics of the front? I suspect you don't have original parkers from that pic.

Paint, mirrors and overriders aren't belonging to it either.

But depends how picky you want to get? Or how close to original you want to get.

Looks pretty tidy as is. Does it need a restoration? If you're getting someone to do it, probably $8000.00 excluding parts.
what is a good site for parts apart from ebay?
ebay, yahoo and datsun1000.comhaha if you post WTB ads here usually someone should be able to help you out

is it going to be a full resto or just tiding it up?

still deciding, depends on cost and parts... and on who can do it for me.
The parkers are not original, the lenses pop up here and there. JDM ones also fit.
Your grille is very sort after, there will be a few jealous members on here.

"About Time Spares" often have new parts for 1000's
"Cheapa Auto Spares" often have parts that are shared with datsun 1200's like brake pads, Wheel bearings ect.

also factor in time, soucing some of these parts takes forever

Datsun 1600 indicators.
They would be suited to your ute.

Personally you can do like mine to save money and minimalise the bulk for minimalist beauty.
Its simple

blank out turn signals off the guards
* no need to tell people you are turning, let them wait for you, they do with me.
blank out front indicators and parkers
* Im doing this as its the only thing I dont like about the simplicity of datsun 1000s
the indicators/parker squashed by the bumper edge top is ugly. The coupes look
better here but for the minimalist aspect of 1000s you can improve this by going
for indicator behind the grille evenly spaced on both sides and use escort mk2
or drill you headlights with a sharp glass drill and install the parker there just
above or below the halogen light. You can use a dab of silicon or urethane easy.
This will make the lines much better and avoid future issues with rust and parts.

Use 3 inch peep mirors above doors, looks good, works well and no one will
yank or bump into your guard mirrors like Ive had done in the past from idiots
who where idiots or too close to the car and part of the clothing or bag caught it.

Steel 180b rims with white or redwalls your choice, or some of the JDM wheels
eg. watanabes, Enkeis, Yayoi, starfires & heaps more oldskool choices available.

Disc brake conversion Pinnie/VS Hoeden

Adjustable air shocks at rear with nozzle hidden to pump it up for loads or leave
it low for cruisin etc, also consider shorter aftermarket shockers.

Rest if a good base, they are great cars and simple to maintain.
