Parker Lights, on or off?

Does any body know if the Parker lights on a 1000 are meant to stay on or switch off when the headlamps are switched on?
 
Im chasing this info before I spend hours going crosseyed trying to figure out wiring.

They go off, I think, but the more I think about it the less sure I am.  I modified the light switch on mine to do the opposite but I also split the front from the rear onto separate fuses.  I had a problem with everything on one fuse one night when the number plate light wire got crushed.

Thanks for the reply Mark, turns out you were right.
I found these in the vintage press section showing lights on & parkers off.
