Explination of Nissans Part Number system

 

As a rule Nissans part number system consists of ten digits which are made up of four factors.

Section No., Character No., Part Type No. & Distinction No.

However, in order to standardize small parts such as screws, nuts, bolts, washers and so on, which are often used on multiple models, Nissan specify them as N.E.S. (Nissan Enginering Standard)

These N.E.S. parts in principle consist of six or eight digits.

Section No. (2 digits)

The section number consists of 2 digits which indicate the major function of parts.

Character No. (3 digits)

The character No. consists of 3 digits which indicate minor classification within each section.

The character No. of 000 or X00 signifies the assembly parts.

Part Type No. (3 digits)

The Part Type No. consists of 3 digits which in principle indicate the applied model.

This means that the part is originaly designed for that model.

Howerer, it may be used widely over Nissans models. Therefore, it does not always signify the applied model.

Distinction No. (2 digits)

The Distinction No. consists of 2 digits which indicate the difference between similar parts as shown below.
