SchuMi2's KB10 Build

The mounts are all done except for the final paint when they are to be left on the motor. Sump clears the X member. If I have time today I will drop the motor back into the car and I might start looking at the alternator placement etc.

Nice job onthe mounts!
Very clean weld bead there. Looks professional!
It things look like a pro has done them, the inspectors dont look as hard.

I know this is gonna sound silly, but does the oil filter come off?
Thanks...thats what I am hoping...if it looks like an original part they might not look hard at all...drop the mount for the filter...not hard...5 bolts. Unfortunately there was very few options for that mount with the filter in exactly the wrong spot.
hmm crap on the filter.

have you considered a remote mount?

you just get a plate machined up to fit the engine side, fittings, hoses and then another plate for the filter end and a mount.

Might not have room, but justa thought.
Looked at that option but the extra $$ on remote mount wasn't worth it for 1 or 2 max filter changes a year.
Sat the motor in today to check for any issues. The only thing I will do is drop the engine down another 10mm. Otherwise everything else sits well.

Man that the filter location! but nothing a screw drive wont fix when taking it off
Done that to plenty of these modern cars with no space for much from underneath

Filter position isn't ideal but there will be plenty of access from underneath...drop the mount bolts and spin it off.
It's been a couple of weeks but I have been making steady progress. With the xmas holidays and a lot of businesses closed until this week it made for slow progress on the bits I wanted to get done before I go back to work. Finally have a flywheel on the CG engine and all looks good. Next I will be getting into making the backing plate so it can sit back in the car and I can start working on the cooling system.
thanks for the update.
Sometimes I think I took the path less travelled with my project - on second thoughts, its the path never travelled before!

I did consider the CA16, CG16, E16, amongst others, but decided on the frankenstien instead.

I look forward to getting some feedback on how well it runs in the light 1000 compared to be overweight Pulsar it came from.
Keen on seeing yours once it is going RT...the fun is doing something different.

Here is my carby set up...37mm R6.

A couple of pics of the finished flywheel...a little lighter than std. Now onto the backing plate.

Keep the pictures/explications coming.

I always love to see 1000 upgrades.

this engine choice is like the cosworth the 1k should have
eventually received if the market supported more kei sized
rear wheel drive coupes. Looking again at the filter theres
no need to remove any bolts or mounts looks like a belt strap
or similar flat belt oil wrench can undo it easily.

I do love the welds on those mounts so much. Makes me wanna get the tig out and practice
Wow it's been a long time between posts. With being away so much with work for the first half of the year progress on the actual car has been slow. Good thing though is I have a big collection of goodies waiting to go on once I get back into it.
Hey mate, with the flywheel, is it a completely standard CG13 flywheel (before you lightened it?)

Love the conversion
Hey Pedro...it is the std A series flywheel lightened and redrilled to suit the CG13 crank. Once I am home I will do some drawings etc and a list of what I am doing for reference. Cheers
Ok awesome, Would love to see any mods around the clutch and flywheel etc, were the holes welded in the flywheel before redrilling etc, or was a new flywheel centre pressed in?

If you are using the A series clutch, I'm guessing that means your engine spacer between box and block allows you to use the standard throwout bearing etc for the gearbox?
Thought I would do a A10 just to have in the cupboard...
