I agree that sniper bidding is something that feels wrong if it happens to you.
It has happened to me many times over, and im sure it will happen to me again.
But the simple fact is we all know the way ebay works and we all have the oportunity to place a bid for the maximun we want to spend.
I think sniper bidding actualy works in favor of the buyer, it eliminates the auctions ability to go out of control because of ego wars.
The sniping problem is within the way ebay operates, (Set ending time)
If it was run like yahoo or i believe grays also do time extionions to stop this from happening, then everyone would have the freedom to bid again and drive the price up even further making our cars even more expensive in the long run.
this system also creates new dirty tactics, like waiting untill the end of the auction time before increasing the bid to extend the auction time in an attempt to wait the other bidder out.
Each system has it's ups and downs, we just have to work within the rules we are given.
If you have a specific part you want, you can show your intrest within the ebay, yahoo section and hopefuly convince others to let you bid on it without their competition.
this method has worked on here before letting someone buy a part for starting bid,
Here is an example of it working for thou ute, he ended up buying new lenses for the starting bid price when he was otherwise going to be bidding against me.
