69 datsun 1000 sedan build!, 1500cc of crazy 4dr goodness!

hey everyone im new here and ive recently purchased a datsun 1000 4dr sedan of a fellow member of this site

when i got the car it had an a12 in it that i pulled out the night i got home to replace with my a15 ,so far the motor is in and drivable but still need to fit the exhaust and wire up the alternator because it is on the drivers side being an a15 not an a10 or a12 where its down the bottom(early a12)

so far i love the car and it has a good shell which is awesome because i realy hate rust ,the only real rust is a few bubles in the drivers gaurd and around the seal of the boot lid ,but im just goin to get some fertan and treat all the suspicous areas then fix the rust ,but first things first! it needs a buff as mike (dundee) didnt seem to care about the paint haha

also im in the process of putting a 1200 sway bar in it and nolathanes front to rear ,lower the rear and koni or pedders shocks all round

also can i remove the bushing around the diff to run it like a 1200 ? would that prevent axle tramp ? i have nolathane bush pieces on the way that i can put in but if i can eliminate tramping all together that would be great ,also been looking at making tiny tramp bars

anyways pics to come and any advice is welcome as im new to thousands but not to datsuns

cheers
I've never had an axle tramp problem with mine... just breaking diffs and wheelspin

Try driving it abit before you go changing muchThat was a good little car that didn't need much love to keep it happy

Why don't you just put the alternator in the A12 spot... mine is on my A15

Remember... its not a 1200 ... its a new path your on now boy

Welcome Jr,
your playing with the Big kids in B10's...
yea neil i hear ya this thing is in realy good shape for its age ,cant believe how little rust it has in it for its age!

first official test drive was yesterday and it ran rich and would splutter off the line ,so i went in a mates car to see how much black smoke it was blowing ,and it wasnt heaps but enough to make it splutter

then as we came up to the light it just stopped ,wouldnt start and smelt like fuel ,as we pushed it onto the side of the road i noticed a puddle of fuel on the ground and thought maybe the line had comeoff or the pastic filter had split . as i lifted the bonnet i seen fuel coming out of the trumpets of the front carby ,so i waited there till my brother got allen keys from the workshop (not even a km away) and then removed the top of the carb to check the needle and seat

with the key on and at 3psi fuel pressure and float removed the seat sealed perfect and opened fine with my finger removed ,so i then shook the float to check if it had fuel in it but the traffic was too loud so was hard to tell

after rechecking the float levelwas right we tried starting it and the starter had died ,so we end up towing it .tomorrow im going back to the workshop to test the float for leaks and see if i can fix the starter aswell ,then head up to mikes towing the trailer full of stuff haha should be interesting !

nice looks like a tidy car, make sure you put some pics up of the sway bar conversion

thanks fellas ,im real happy with it ,i love the colour but it needs a buff badly
found out the sway bar links off an s13 silvia are perfect for the end links of the sway bar ,just mount them into the LCAs and then make mounts at the front of the rad support

my ssr longchamps will be here hopefully next week so that should brighten it up abit

cheers
