3 speed gears into a 4 speed, 3 speed column change gearbox

1st gear 3.38 versus 3.76

2nd
gear
1.73 versus 2.17

3rd gear
1 versus 1.4

4th gear
only on 4 speed is 1:1

Reverse 3.64 3.64
 
I always though it would be handy and nice to use the first 3 gears in a 56a 4 speed and source
an overdrive gear from Peter in the States then you will end up with
 
3.38, 1.73, 1 and .85
 
This would suit a sneaky A12 with an A14 crank and provide a nice cruiser with overdrive that with
extra torque has no issue pulling any of those gears in any condition providing its driven normally.

Are the gearboxes internals interchangeable like that?
 
just realised 3rd gear is direct drive so can only use first 2 gears which means its a no go sorry to get anyone excited
