I thought this might interest you lot. Most of the members from
datsun1200.com have seen this before but hey some of the new guys might find it
pretty interesting.
So I came to Aus for study, and after finishing my first degree I travelled
back to Rabaul in PNG. In 2008 I shipped this neat little 2 door up to my home
town. The car cost me $270.00 and the shipping ended up at about $2500.00.
If this disgraceful gesture of gross expenditure doesn't put me in the category of
a passionate enthusiast then I'm nothing but a lost soul.
The image below was taken the day I collected the car from the wharf. We
have seven volcanoes within the province and the one erupting in the background
(Tavurvur) is the one that levelled the entire town in 1994. My dad is still
there working through the volcanic eruption (the volcano hasn't stopped) it has
become part of the daily life. At the worst of times (big eruption and winds
not in favour) the volcano will drop a good inch and a half of ash over the
course of the day.
So there you have it, a Datsun 1000 in the most unlikely of places.
