My ute! B20, Datsun 1000 Resto mod

Thanks mate, yeah it's a coupe grille but I also have the original ute grille and a deluxe grille so I like to mix it up. The coupe one is my favourite though...today. The good thing about the details is it dosent cost money, just time but when you get it right it makes the world of difference. I actually just got the screen fitted and didn't realise the rubber I had was for a chrome strip and just happened to have a good one on my wagon, they do look better with the chrome. Had a decent sunny day so I rolled it out for a wash and pic, it's the first time I have seen it with all the wheels, chrome and lights from a distance. Hope you guys like it because I f'n love it.
You have done a great job and has inspired me to get my coupe started. I prefer the coupe grill a simple grunty look and they clean up great anyway you have every reason to be prod of your achievement mate
I have been a long time member of the 1200 club but found this site. As I have a coupe this is where I should be.

G'day all. Just got delivery of my new engine mounts. Was looking on eBay and I saw these and thought they look the same as mine and sure enough, identical! And the price how can you go wrong and brand new to boot. And I snuck in my favourite pic for now.😜

Hi everyone. Got my motor back from freshen up, very excited now I can finally finish stuff off. A12 block with A14 crank, rods and pushrods with a reasonably warm cam but unsure of the specs. I will be running a single 45mm weber and a set of genie extractors and with the 5 speed it should get up and go pretty bloody good. Still have to modify the gearbox mount, sort out radiator and a few other expensive items but I can see the end of the tunnel now. Hopefully 1/4 seals won't be to far off so I can reassemble the doors and get rear screen in. Anyway hope you guys like it and will get more pics up as it progresses.

Anybody know what head bolt tension I should have, A12 or A14 specs. Any help would be much appreciated.
looks good dude

Looks brilliant, so what capacity is the engine now? Regarding the pushrods, if they're the A14 ones how much adjustment on the tappets do you have left? I thought the longer pushrods were too long for the shorter blocks.

Thanks guys. Not sure if you can see but there's not a lot of adjustment left but in saying that I don't know the full specs but I will check with the engine builder and get back to you.
That looks about normal, probably using the shorter A12 rods looking at the adjustment. Good move.

Nice motor, good A-series engine builders are few and far between.
That's what I thought until I checked them against my 1200GX pushrods and they are about 10-15mm longer, unless gx pushrods are shorter than std A12.
Looking great Dix, quality build mate.

That looks amazing mate you should be very proud

Hello and and a merry festive season to all. Just got my weber back from rebuild and it came up like new. Put the old linkages on but need to get new ones, to old and grungy looking. Also had my flywheel machined and picked up a new heavy duty clutch so now I can get the box back in and start to try and finish of all the mechanical side of things ready for wiring. I've also made a spare wheel box in s/s mainly because I extended the holder underneath to take a wider spare and to much of it was seen so a cover it is! I don't know if it will stay but it is growing on me.

cheers guys and thanks for looking.

G'day all! It's been a while since I put anything on so a bit of an update. Firstly put a mirror on made from a couple of old ones I had laying around. Got my radiator back, triple cored for $290 so not to bad, so that motivated me to make a number plate bracket out of the bumper bar bracket.
I also started the carpeting of th cab which is a fiddley job, lots of weird shapes and cuts. Either way I'm wrapt with the result. Next up I bolted in some Honda prelude seats with some custom brackets. They fit nice but I have made them to not slide as we all know they're that small inside there is not much point! I have set them to be comfy enough for me and I'm 5'10". Anyway will keep on trying to get it finished hopefully within the next 4-6 weeks.

Cheers guys.
great job dude,
some nice work there...
Looking awesome Rich, make sure you take those seats to my guy in Glenroy, he works from home and is totally cheap and incredible to deal with. He can do them in black vinyl with pin striping and felth to look old school or like some below

Hi all. A few more pics of the engine bay, reworked the heater hoses with braided fittings, fitted a bling overflow tank to match the fittings (where do you stop). Had all my hard lines and braided flex lines done for my brakes and had a bias valve put in for the rear lines and all done in my driveway. Just got to do the front wheel bearings and can get brakes all bled up ready.
The only things left for rego is exhaust and get. The electrical needs a bit of work, extend front lighting wiring, wire up rear lights, wire fuel pump and a bit of neatening and ready to roll....I really cannot wait to get her back on the road!!
Looks amazing. Great work.
