you can also buy them from mad-dat but they're a bit pricey, i've got front disk brakes on mine but not sure what they are

Hey mate
I think the maddat kit is the best way to go atleast you know you have everything and instructions on how to put in together
Plus i would like to know my brakes are right
This link is for the kit

thanks bro i appreciate the help on the situation. Ive had the datto for about five years now and all my old pics of it were on a card that was lost so i actually had to use my phone to take a pic of it on an old photo a least that was when it looked half nice lol. its nothing special man but a project in the making that iv struggled to find the time and the dollars for but im hoping to change that pretty soon. ill get ya a few pics of it though bro asap. what about yours man.
You can do several cheap conversions also
1. Sigma/1200 conversion
Use Sigma 1978-80 GE calipers, disc rotors and brackets.
Get some Datsun 1200 coupe disc brake hubs.
re-drill bracket holes to clear caliper from tie rods
weld up old holes and then grind it smooth
Machine centre of disc 3mm from 67 to 70mm
Final piece is install 1200/120y or similar dual brake master cylinder
Then all bolts up, bleed it and go for gold

2. Probably easier but not sure whats involved (ask Leith I think its his baby?)
It goes something like rear of Pintara / Skyline disc rotors and brackets
and some kind of commonhore calipers from either VN-VP?
Someone can fill in or correct my bad memory

hey thanks man. as it happens i actually have a pintara diff and four disc brakes here that i picked up with an sr20 a few years ago it might be worth checking out.

good stuff dunno what sorta drive train you'll be running but thats what diff all the 1200 guys use with the ca18 conversions, im running r31 rear calipers on the front so i found out here's a link - http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=48108&forum=2&post_id=339635#forumpost339635 you can still run 13" wheels with that setup

yea im in the same boat as you mate haven't had any real spare cash to spend on my ute just been collecting small hard to get parts for it. i've owned it for 18 months now and only got to drive it for about half that before the bonnet unlatched and smashed into the roof, pretty well got the shits after finding it hard to get another bonnet and now i've got 4 i think lol but now i've got no where to work on my car until my sheds done :-( haha

it's a bit hard to justify that much money on disks that in some cases are half the value of the car..
Absolutely Id rather spend 900 dollars on all round disc brakes
using the pintaras rear and commonho calipers all round.
The dual brake master cylinder (DBMC) is the main expense but when
you consider most single master cylinders are leaking its not
really an expense but part of servicing.
Good VS calipers are 60-80 for 2 pairs, Pinnie caliper brackets
are 20 for four and new Pinnie rear discs about 120 for four.
All up 200-250 you can have discs all round price ex DMBC.
Will all fit 13inch wheels if you grind a 1-2mm off caliper cooling fins.

so what motor is in your ute ThouUte? I have an A15 in mine thats had some work work but after shearing two flywheels clean off the crankshaft im thinking of an upgrade. Had an sr20 but sold it some time ago but am thinking of a ca18 now. Do you know i its been done in the 1000 before as iv not seen one with an sr20 or a ca18.

I'm about to fit 120Y discs to the front of mine. There's  a bloke I know who's been racing a 1000 coupe for years and he's made me the same kit he uses. So far it's cost me $180. I'll take some photos (with a proper camera) when i get started.
i've just got  the standard a12 with a single weber im not real interested in doing a conversion unless i can put a 12a rotor in it, im deciding wether to turbocharge or heavily work it as an n/a

ca18 has been done, pretty sure d has some experience with that. here's a couple of links to photo's of the ones i've seen

haven't seen an sr20 in one, dont think you can legally get it registered

would also be good to see your setup too custom1000 here's mine

So, if you want to run your 12 inch rims what disc packages are you optioned with? Just the 120y or 1200 disc setup? And the brackets. Does anyone have any pictures of the bracket?
Some people play hard to get... I play hard to want...
120y, 1200 but have to use custom brackets
or mod pintara rear ones if possible, actually
you should be able to.
You could probably can use some twin spots from
the rear of some skylines, 300zx etc.
I had a set but a guy from mini forum use them
for his 12inch wheels.

there's 2 setups on this thread, i like the sikynes r32 setup im gonna look into it as it would be the easiest and also its two pot front and single pot rear will probably need to be boosted tho not sure and also can still fit 13's over them

specs-

modified 200b strut
r32 calipers
Willwood 265mm x 29mm disc

Rears are also r32 with willwood rotors by the look of it

Obviously our thou's dont have struts but couldn't be that hard to adapt

Just finished my r31 brake upgrade on my 1k ute. Couldnt have been any easier. I'll put some photos and details of what i did soon. I would easily suggest this conversion. I'm looking at maybe a booster but been told it should be fine without. maybe just a dual m/cyl. I'll research which ones best and go from there. Cheers guys
Heres some photos and a short description of what I did, just let me know if anyone wants more info or tips.

I bought my set of r31 discs from ebay, cost $90 + $30 postage, alot cheaper then any wreckers i rang.

I just disassembled and cleaned and rubber greased all the seals and they are all good. Disassemble your front brakes, and keep the hubs and the brake hoses. Get the stock r31 rear caliper mounting brackets and and use the old bolt locking plate as a guide, mark the 3 holes you need to drill.

1 of the stock holes you can use but you will need to widen the hole to line up. You will need to grind a small amount off the bracket to fit the steering drop arm.

Then mount the caliper mounting bracket with the original bolts from the drums. Then mount the hub and disc on spindle and mount the caliper.

Then for the brake hose, remove the original ones and remove the banjo fitting off the end so it will screw straight into the caliper. Finally mount the hoses and bleed.

Simple as that, I've got a few photos at the moment but I'll be removing the brakes to paint everything so I'll take some more detailed photos. Cheers

So you used the original lines all screws in by just removing banjo fitting? wow if so!!!

here is the Pinnie rear rotor info, its better than many discs used at the front of cars.

and if you put them in front of the wheel instead of trailing, you don't need to grind the bracket..
Yeah I looked at putting them at the front but the original brake hoses wouldnt fit so I decided to put on the back, But yeah its easy as, and if you do want to use the original hoses all you have to do is remove the end fitting and fit a new copper washer and it'll screw straight in. I bought a brand new dual m/cyl for a 1200 gx last night and it should be here tomorrow. cant wait to fit it and take it for a run.
