Datsun 1000 & Datsun 1200 are there steering components the same??

Hey guys

The centerlink ball joints on my 1000 are shot.

I was wondering if centerlink/drag links are the same on the 1000 and 1200 models and if so what other front end parts are intechangable?

cheers luke
Draglink.

Im unaware of any replacments for the 1000 draglinks, so it is a case of finding the best 2nd hand one you can or having your one rebuilt if you can find someone who does that.

There are differences between RHD and LHD, as one end is pivot-only and the other is free to move like a balljoint.

1200 drag links are longer than 1000 ones.
(I had considered buying a 1200 part and having Maddat bend it up as if im trying to gain room like some people with engine swaps, but never ended up asking as I found one on ebay before getting around to it).

The idea was to add bends to shorten the distance between the pivots on the ends.

(Im not sure if they even do this or if it is ok to do, but they sell bent draglinks for extra clearance when people fit larger engines into their datsuns)

Idler arm.

The idler arm is interchangable with 1200 ones.
But I believe you will need to make sure it is an early 1200 part (1970-74), I think they mount differently on the late versions.

The 1200 idler arm in the pic is 555 brand Part number CSX1135.

Balljoints & Tie-Rod-Ends.

Balljoints & Tie-Rod-Ends are rare, but avaliable if you look hard enough on ebay, yahoo & forums.

Upper and Lower Control-Arm-bushes.

Upper and Lower Control-Arm-bushes have a 1200 and transit bush swap, but im unsure about which year transit to use.

Front Shocks.

Front shocks are avaliable through pedders, just keep your lower mounting pin or the entire shock and have pedders press it into the new one for you.

Leaf spring pads.

Leaf spring pads are NLA, but they have been remade before.

1967 Datsun B10 2 Door.
Take it to Dave at Precise Suspensions in Wangara and he'll rebuild it for you
what does that cost Nool???
1200 draglink so much better looking unit with more clearance

Percise is just down the road, nice. Thats awsome cheers for all the info.
No idea Mike
Just remember Dave saying once before he rebuilt MTT bus balljoints
So I guess for the right cash he can fix Datto parts
I don't expect it to be cheap
But when theres nothing available your options are limited
Yer went to percise today, the boys can do it they inject the ball joint with urethane apprantly.

Its around 70 bucks per ball joint more if they need to really screw around with them, but its not as if any of us are spoiled for options!

Thanks for the recomendation Neil hopefully she wont be as terrifyingly shakey at over 80ks!
