X-mas compitetion.

I thought I would get into the spirit of christmas and offer up a set of genuine datsun 1000 short spear indicators (2 pieces), New Old Stock.

These will be free to the winner of this little x-mas comp and I will also cover any postage charges, this is open to all members on here.

I thought we could all post a reply as to why you or someone else on here deserves them.
I would prefer these to go to somebody that will use them on their car and not just ebay these once they get them.
Replys end Jan 1, 12:00PM and on Jan 2 a winner will be chosen.
Hopefully we can find the member that deserves these the most.

I want this to be as fair as possible so this will be decided purley on the replys given within this topic.

I look foward to your replys,  Ash.

That is more generous than Santa would be which such rare items!!!

Personally I would fill in the guards and even at worst use the latest headlights
with built in parkers and indicators all in one.

Its up to the owners though but these indicators are rare and just offering
another alternative as not all peeps here might deserve such items

I know these are rare, they almost never show up for sale and if they do they cost a small fortune, and even then they go almost instantly.

I thought these would be a nice gift to someone in the 1000 community.

Merry X-mas all

Wow! It's a very generous offer indeed beetwenty!

The person I nominate is my best mate and soon to be Best Man.  He isn't actually a member, but has owned 1000's for as long as I can remember, including 2 KB10s (which he still has, one is a bare shell project with a 3" roof chop, the other is a wreck bought for spares) and a VB10 (which he sold, then was wrecked, but now in the hands of Dundee).

The selfless bugger GAVE me a bucket load of parts for my Wagon, including a heater, badges, indicator stalk, accelerator pedal and 2pr of short-spear indicator assemblies...AND REFUSED TO TAKE MONEY FROM ME!!

Sure, the indicator assemblies will only make one pair, as the casings on one pair are corroded and the other pair's wires are cut, but the lenses are all good.  But because he gave me the only ones he had, he no longer has any for himself to use on his chopped KB10, when he gets around to finishing it.

That is why I nominate this champ.

Cheers and Merry Xmas to all 1000 owners .

That's an awesome response, keep the replys coming everyone.

I would love to nominate myself, but aside from wanting (I mean needing) a NOS set of indicators for my thou, I am not sure I deserve such treasure. Besides, my project is still a few thousand dollars off and plenty of hours off completion. (stupid work getting in the way of my thou
I reckon I would need to nominate Mr Dundee1000. Ever since I have owned a thou, Mike has been really helpful, offers me parts that are hard to source for nix, (even when they cost a small fortune and the Missus doesn’t agree), provides timely and genuine advice and is generally a nice guy. Don’t let the 6 foot frame, the Harley, and the awesome bikers beard fool you. He is an awesome dude, who deserves some recognition for all the help to the Perth folks that he gives out.
He has sold stuff to me for bargain prices, even when it seems that he needs it more than I.
He has been a thou driver (and daily at that) for many years. I don’t know how many, but 20 would be a good start (sorry Dundee if that gives your age away!!) Not many people can claim to have driven a thou for that many years as a daily without interruption.
My vote goes to Dundee1000.
Dundee is a hoarder, will he actually use them? Haha.

I reckon it should go to someone who is close to finishing (and certain to finish) their project.

Which leaves us with......         erm........  umm......?

Ashley, I don't want to be a stick in the mud but;

My vote: Keep it and hold onto it. All the possible candidates I would like to vote for will either stash it, sell it or never finish their projects.

After all of your efforts getting this website together I think it should be someone else offering this sort of thing.

If I HAD to vote, then I would vote for botoneta because he is garunteed to use them and he is garunteed to finish his projects looking at the immacculate collection of Datsuns that he already has. If I'm not mistaken these lights are actually applicable to his model/year?
You have a point there Chris...

Bugger it!  I'd like to change my nomination to Me!!

I WILL fit them straight away to my "running resto" Wag. I'll still recondition the ones Kman (my best friend, whom I originally nominated) gave me, then give them back to him to put away, until his chopped KB is ready (which, in all honesty, could be years from now).

Chris, I agree that these should go to someone that will actualy use them rather than shelving or selling them.
I bought these while I was building my B20 project.
Now that I have a 1967 2-Door instead, I have no use for these as it uses the round guard indicators.

Currently these are sitting on a shelf with no car to go on.
These realy should be on someone elses pride and joy.

I've got no one to nominate apart from my self and the obvious people, I've got 2 utes and only one nos set. Either way this is a nice gesture on your part ash considering how much time and effort you've put into the 1000 site and community, who ever gets them should feel privileged

Apart from my obvious good looks I have had a terrible year and probably deserve a pick me up. Not many know but not long after I got my thou I fixed her up with motivation to get ready for a cruise and had a great old time, although I was finding it tough to get out in the shed because I was fatigued all the time, Less than 2 weeks later I'm in hospital with testicular cancer and going under the knife to have the mongerl dragged out of me. Recovery and chemo etc and I'm getting over it when my dad takes a spill. Shattered the T2 vertebrae and geting spinal caging done. Not to mention I've had a few sour deals trying to do the right thing by my thou, like getting a GX engine for it, which turned out to be a complete lemon, and a 60A 5 speed, which has a broken rear case and input cover and no clutch lever (which was promised). The lack of integrity of some people is amazing. It's like not many people have a concience anymore. That's about the worst half of it, compared to that the rest seems trivial. As for the car, I've been through more with Fang that most of my other cars put together so she isn't going anywhere. I'll cut my other nut off before that happens. And it isn't like I haven't done my fair share for the Datsun community either. Freebies, discount's, storage and next to free forigners and gearbox rebuilds for some. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hard done by or a tradgic case by any means. I'm well aware that there are some out there who have seen true tradgedy.

There you go, just like in Notting Hill I have stated my claim to the last chocolate cookie. And as it happens one of my guard repeaters is broken and glued together. Not that I'll put it on straightr away but it will probably break again when I respray Fang next year.

Vote for Revhead001. You know you want to...
Some people play hard to get... I play hard to want...
Gee Santa
I've tried to get short spear indicators, i tried some long ones from a place in japan , but the body was just too big so had to re-sell them , all i need for Xmass is my 2 front shortspears (for the 69 KB10) all my other lenses are fine , no idea why these are so hard to come by i guess its just the rarity of the items. When you think about it a '69 is really almost 43 years old...so yeah stuff becomes rare lol

In all honesty i only need 1 shortspear lens, and that compleats the lights being  in a roadworthy condition , mind you there is more work to do.

So if nothing else , if anyone has even Just 1 lens (im pretty sure the body is useable...) they can spare i will gladly pay for it

P.S.
I hope you all have a very merry and safe Christmass and remember Christmass has bugger all to do with gifts  (cept for the little kids cauz its magic for them) and everything to do with family and friends being together and being safe. Oh and enjoying the simplicty of the humble Datto
I want them for my coupe
But I'm not nice , friendly and helpful like everyone else so I know I don't deserve them
Didnt know Don about all that, not that its easy to just tell the world and
I respect you more for doing so.
I will nominate you for you are a genuine good bloke, bitter some times but well
deserving for the crap times you and your family had to endure.

Secondly vote for Ash cause although he has a b10 one day he is going to run into
a B20 that is too hard to resist and have missing the parts offering now.
Trust me it will happen and this post will be proof of my premonition

I could use one myself, as if the parts are pretty much impossible to get here in the states. the right side one was broken when i bought the car. took a long one, cut it down and glued together. can't tell except for the extra screw in the front of it. but my vote is for revhead. Hope next year is much better for you.
i vote for siliviaspecr as he is in a worse boat then i am as i can find these cars in my country (just found 2 more 30 mins from my parents house may be getting the parts car he has )
so my votes for him

My 'C' situation was not a secret or even unique, I didn't really tell everyone as I have only just recently gotten the all clear from the doc. It was ironic that on the August Vic cruise, the 'goth chick' and I wanted to organize a cruise for Mivember and raise some cash towards mens health, 2 weeks later I'm in emregency at the Angliss, 5 days later I'm in surgery. It was literally that quick.

I also forgot to mention that before I got sick my wife and I were organising a holiday to New Zealand. So we waited to get tha all clear before we moved forward with the holiday plan. We missed all the good flights we had booked so now it is costing an extra $1500 in flights and had to downgrade the accomodation. Dang. Dad was almost at the edge and making funeral preperations so we almost were going to cancel the holiday but like a ledgend Dad pulls through the operation and we're on track again. The next day more quakes in NZ. We are determined to get there though. Come rain, earthquake or shine we are going to get there dammit. She'll be right.

And my bloody K is broen on the eyboardand I have to eep rewriting everything that has a in it...
