Beetwenty's B10 2 door

The badge looks remarkbly lke the coupe sports badge. Im sure Ive seen it before

If its not real, it looks the goods anyways
Thanks for the emblem lovin.

If there is such a thing, then i guess we made the correct design decisions.
1967 Datsun B10 2 Door.
Im thinking of pricing up chroming once i get these.

Just need to see if i can achieve a smooth finish to warrant the process.

Nothing too exciting this time.

I did a retractable lap sash seatbelt conversion into my 1000.

For my additional points i used seatbelt spreader plates. (B pillar and directly below)

I used the factory lap belt points for the remaining two ends of my belt.

I was a little naughty with the upper point on my b pillar and shortened the spreader plate slightly to avoid an internal wall inside the b pillar.

My plate is 8mm steel, so i angled my cut to keep as much contact area as i possibly could while still avoiding the internal wall. (Effectively thinning the thickness of the top end of my plate).

I made sure to round all edges and corners on my plate to prevent it from becoming a can opener in an accident.

I got my 3D printed emblems in the post earlier this week.
I chose the stainless option which is made up of 60% steel, 40% brass.

I sanded down the face to a smooth finish and then nickel plated my emblems with a DIY nickel-acetete solution made from white vinegar, salt and nickel welding electrodes.
+5V DC from an old USB cable.

Im very happy with how these turned out.
I'll get pics up tomorrow of them on the car once my ultra black dries and i take my tape off.

1800 take my money...
they look awesome...
I can't see the add to cart button...
Thanks Dundee.
I well and truly overspent on a DIY emblem.

Shapeways cost about $85 including post.
Then did about $20 in sand paper as i got every grade down to 2000 grit.

We removed volume on the back face in.our design to reduce print costing.
This caused the emblem to sagg in the middle so i needed to remove approx 0.5mm from the front face to achieve a flat plain.

Then i spent a little over $100 on the nickel plating ingredients because i also bought for copper plating. (And failed so far with copper plating)

So I'm in for about $200 for a set of fake emblems.

That and a whole lot of time sanding and googling about nickel plating.

(I sanded enough off that i needed to file the entire out side edge to retain a factory looking shape).

Cool job on the emblems...it's only money. I remember the days anodizing titanium with coke and a little DC voltage.
I didnt mind spending the money.
I think every emblem on my car owes me over 200 anyway.

Plus I enjoyed the process.

Emblems on.

Looks good...
Nothing much to add to the build diary this time.

I added a 120y handbrake cover to my 1200 sedan handbrake lever today.

Sorry for the photo's in the dark with camera flash on.

Before fitting my cover i marked my screw hole locations with some small squares of cloth tape to make the assembly process a little easier.

While im updating my build diary...
I still have not started my A14 swap.

I have been slowly collecting generic bits and pieces from ebay to do the job.

Water pump, fan, radiator etc.
Hoping to limit my "car off the road time" by getting my parts list sorted before taking my A12 out.

Ash keep showing us what a 1975 deluxe datsun 1000 tudor would have been

If you get good at nickel plating maybe you can do bumpers one day
Im hoping I can 1 day master a copper finish to replace all chrome wares
then laquer finish for a for a steam punk 1k

I have actually already thought the bumper idea up as well.
Too spendy for me at this stage.

Got more upgrades planned for the tudoor keeping me poor.

Plus ive been spending on bicycles again.
Got another MTB and mandatory parts changing to make it feel like it is uniquely mine.

From what i have read, copper plating is also a process that you can DIY at home.

Not done it myself so have no pointers for you D.

ummm steampunk mtb well wish I had the time atm!
Is that a 20 or 24 inch frame? I was thinking of using
a 20 inch frame I have convert it to 24 inch wheels.
Over the last couple of years living here I managed
to horde 20 odd neglected 2 wheelers of all kings.
Recently found a trike frame & slapped it together
using left over bits for our 12kg, 9 months old.
It will need the Steampunk copper, brass, leather, wood
additions when the bike shed rental is up & running.
You are welcome Ash to Okinawa when you manage to
get some funds away from your treasures.
Im converting a small house for friends and family guests
that come over. This island is paradise for riders and
offroaders that dont mind the sub tropics. Will start another
thread to fot chit chat to avoid clogging this thread any further.

So, we really need D's logo for the boot, and Ash's shields for the guards..
be rolling large in our Thou's...
D's logo could also go well on our guards as a stand alone emblem.

Or perhaps as a sticker to replace the "datsun 1000" sticker on A10 rocker covers...
Hmmm, now ive got myself thinking.
D... would you mind if i used your avitar as inspiration for a rocker cover sticker?

Id be honored

it was a quicky so polish it up by all means

Thank you D.

Not sure what ill do with it, but think it would be fun to try.

Is looking easier than what i was starting to cook up in my mind...much easier, and reversable as a mod

I was starting to think of trying my hand at pressing something into the blank A10 rocker cover.

I was wanting something to go with the sports theme that ive started to go with.

From what i was looking at, a shop press, 95 durometer poly and a stamp of my desired shape had the potential to press a shape or words into the blank A10 rocker cover.

Didn't have a particular design in mind yet.

I was going to start looking into how well the thicker steel held up to this process on an old cover.

Even had a go in the vice with some aluminium sheet and an old rubber sanding block last week for proof of concept/learning how to fail & succeed.

I ended up using a hammer and punch to sharpen inside the spanner jaws.

But dont think I'll need to mess about sharpening anything after the use of a press.

Think ill try stickers first for now.
1967 Datsun B10 2 Door.
Quick update.

I have made a water pump block off plate as i am considering using a Davies craig electric water pump and controller.

I traced a water pump gasket onto some 6mm aluminum plate.

Cut and filed to shape.

Then i used washers to mask my bolt surfaces and sanded the exposed edges to a radiused transition.

Completed shape.

I then ran a needle scaler over the front plate in an effort to fake a cast aluminum texture.

While it is not 100% accurate for its fake casting texture
I am happy with the final part.

Ash.
