Last night a friend painted a vent cover that I have been working on.
My vent cover started life as a pair of fibreglass copies of the 1200 coupe vent covers.
I also purchased a spare vent cover and removed the lips from the underside everywhere the original part contacted the body of my car.
Removing this height allowed me to have the top of my new part at the same height as the original vent cover.
Im pleased with how it looks on the car.
Another step closer to achieving my goal of owning a "GX" 1000.
My vent cover started life as a pair of fibreglass copies of the 1200 coupe vent covers.
- I then cut each side down from 3 sections to 2.
- Fibreglassed the two pieces together
- Added a flat fibreglass section infront and behind joined part.
- Cut off and filled in the standard 1200 mounting points.
- Used body filler and then high build primer as my base to sand it all smooth.
- And finally paint.
