She's gorgeous!
Thanks guys,
I would love to do it but it is not practical, I have a hilux for moving the bike and getting muddy in.
I was thinking it would be funny to put a rack on the back, the bike would hang over 100mm to 150mm each side.

that would be funny you should do it

That grille is now my favorite. It just looks more retro punk than the s1 - top work.

That grille was my least favourite, I even gave 2 away, although not in very good nick.
Once I put it on the car I changed my mind very quickly, now I think I love it the most as well.

I had the same issue looking at mine from my old ute.
Its not chromed or stainless anywhere but same design.
I kept it as I thought it a good base for a custom mesh
replacement from another car.
Then I see your pic and got blown away. It gives the
car a unique character I havent seen yet.
Its sort of Gigantor meets Lost in Space.

I think the grille is designed for the open headlight trims, I think it looks unfinished with them, I like it far better with the round (Circle) headlight tims that are on it in that pic.

Im bidding on a new headlight trim at the moment, I hope I can win it so I can be mostly finished with the front.

Time for an update,

Car now has...

  • New Shock Absorbers, Front & Rear
  • New Leaf Spring Rubbers for Rear Leaf Springs
  • New Tension Rod Bushings
  • New Tie Rod Ends, Inner & Outer
  • New Boots on Cross Link, (the ends have zero play and feel silky smooth)
  • Battery Mount & Battery Tray. New Battery Terminal (+)
  • New Spark Plug Leads.
  • Floor Mats & New Drain plug in Passenger Floor.
  • New Rear Brake Slave Cylinders
  • New Rear Brake pads
  • Lithium Grease in all greasing nipples.

I have also Reconditioned my steering Wheel.

Here it is Before I started.

Polishing the Horn Button.

I placed a bolt in my vice to work on the Wheel, (This worked well)
I also cleaned off all the finger grime with some thinners before starting my repairs.

I used a dremmel to grind out all the cracks in the wheel.
I also drilled holes into the both sides of all the cracks to give my filler a bit more bite.

I filled in everything with some Kneadit, and sanded it all l back with 80 grit sand paper, Then cleaned it all with some Wax & grease remover.
The sand paper is very coarse, because I wanted the paint to stick.

I painted the wheel with "K&H Plastic Adheasion Primer" and then with a further three coats of "K&H Plasti-Prime"
Allowing the drying times between coats.
Once it was all dry I sanded everything back with 240 Grit Sand paper and then Wax and Grease remover again.

This is the finished wheel with 3 coats of "K&H Bumper & Trim Paint" in Satin Black.
The finish has a texture that looks like a factory plastic.

Thanks Leith.

I hope it lasts. I was talking to a mate about it and he suggested to cut out the cracks with a V shape.
So if they show throough in the future I will do that.

I thought I would do a write up on it for anyone else thinking of giving it a try.

I just noticed, I took the photo before doing up the top springs on the brakes, (They are on now, Just not in the photo)

dremeling out all the cracks the way you did would suffice i would think, you'll find out soon enough you never know it could last forever.

could you maybe get a rubber compound to spray paint on it? can you spray that stuff that you have for the suspension covers?

I went with the paint that is on it because it is for plastic and can flex.
1967 Datsun B10 2 Door.
I fixed up the wiring on my round guard indicator today.
The (+) signal wire was not allowing a circit so I replaced it.

I drilled a small hole into a nut to make a mould for some solder to form around the end of my new wire.

Here is a pic of the new wire with solder on the end to act as a contact point in my indicator.
I put it all together in an exploded layout to show what I mean.

Love the steering wheel, I have some hairline cracks in mine so might do the same

but honestly was thinking of modifying a mitsubishi lance one as it 2 inches smaller

in diameter but gave up when looking at the spline mods.

My little brother and I have been looking at the parcel shelf in his hilux for a while now, thinking it would fit into a 1000 and look right.

He went to the self service wreckers with a mate on the weekend and they bought me one.
Here is a pic of it, (RN40 Hilux, 1979-1983).

I had to trim the back corner to match the shape of the 1000. (Against the kick panel)

The standard 1000 parcel shelf mount on the dash lines up perfectly with the hilux part.
I didn't want to make any new holes in my car so underneath I have used L shaped brackets from existing holes.

Now I need to clean it up and it should look like a factory part.

Beetwenty..Lovin the build,super clean..
Thank you,

I havn't done too much with it so far, nothing much will happen untill I move and the xmas break is done with, then i'll save up for tyres and rego then chip away at it slowly.

I have an A15 and a 5-Speed here for it now. so down the line it will get that as well.
Im thinking of going back to the stock wheels with an R12/80/165 tyre and doing the H150 centre swap to my Diff.
and a 120y or 1200 disc front brake and master Cyl.

The A15 is just to make the car drive a little nicer, im not chasing huge power so im not going to do anything more with it than it already has.
It already has a single webber and if they fit it has extractors with it as well.
Im thinking that set up will be more than enough torque for the poor little 165's.

You should if let us know bout the tyres ash you could of took the spare wheels I've got when you were up here

Parcel shelf looks sweet to

Leith, When I was up there I got 1 standard 1000 wheel from you, Thank you.
Im going to buy new tyres, all the rims I have had tyres on them and I got the tyres removed to take up less space in the shed.

I now have 2 x 12 inch 1000 rims and 4 x 12 inch 1200 rims with the 3 tabs in the centre and another 12 inch 1200 rim without the tabs. that's 7 rims all up.
so far I don't have a matching set, the 1200 rims are slightly wider than the 1000 ones and the 1200 ones that i've got have slightly different holes where the centre meets the rim.

If you are ever down my way I still have those door frames here for you.
