Beetwenty's B10 2 door

I did mirrors on the top because when they were on the side they were magnets for oblivious carpark pedestrians.

Found it impossible to go to the shops and not have my mirrors bumped.

Never had a problem with them up top.

It is a worthwhile mod.

If you have a spare $770 Australian, there is one on ebay.

Nice work (as always) Ash! - Looking bloody clean these days. Wel done.
They look better up top but for sure same here on my old b10 every person got caught or wacked
the mirror as Aussie etiquette is not like Japanese who are more careful, I even had an old lady
tugging at the right one damaging my guard, her gucci handbag was stuck on it and couldnt bring
herself to just taking a second and untangling it like a sane person.
Instead was in a frenzy like she was snatched up by an aligator and had to break free for her life.
I approached her to say just wait a secon let me help its my car and then after I untangled the fool
she accussed me of ruining her new chinese knock off bag. I had to laugh at her and couldnt help
quip its my blind granny bag catcher and today her bag was the fifth and the day was not over yet.
That was 15 years ago and must be worse now with all the mobile phone zombies.

Last night i fitted a 120y console.

With the prices of some of the rare items, ive decided a genuine optional console is never going to happen.

Went with the 120y because of the 3 chrome stripes.

I feel it fits in with the S Mark emblem which is also divided into threes.

Ok so time for some build diary from the past again.

I decided that I wanted the controls in my 1000 to feel a little closer to My 1200 Ute.
So I changed over from the 3 speed column shift to a 4 on the floor and also went to a 1200 Handbrake instead of the dash handbrake.

As usual I cleaned my parts up before installing.

For the 4 speed I had a friend shorten my gear stick and I also installed new bushings.
(Normal shifter in black for size comparrison)

I finally fixed up an early heater box (Heater core still needs to go to a radiator shop)

I did fix up a broken on/off tap on my heater core.

I just used a grub screw, some aluminium bar, Stud Lock and a new heater tap lever.
Somewhat of an odd fix,was all my skillset/knowledge/tools would allow.

Now on to the A12.

Another shot before it went in.

I decided to use an A15 Exhaust Manifold to keep a stockish feel within the enginebay.
However I was not too keen on all the pipework that comes along with the A15 Manifold, So a block off was in order.

Couldnt find what i wanted, only found a bolt in the correct thread, so time to make a plug from the bolt.

I ended up making the square fit a half inch socket drive to add tightening options once more parts get added into the engine/engine-bay. So now i can simply use an extension and an adjustable wrench to tighten from free space.

Along with the Manifold, I also decided to go a single 40mm Sidedraught.
Again I wanted a stockish appearance, so linkages were not an option for me.

I modified another bolt to anchor my cable.

With that sorted It was time to sort out a cable path.
I made a plate under the carb to double as a heat shield and a cable mount.
Then just used a bicycle v-brake noodle and made up a cable from a high quality gear cable/outer.

Other than that, some thermo fans and a points conversion is all thats been changed within the engine bay.
I painted the engine bay with spray cans in black so i can work on the car and bump stuff.
If I scratch something i can just squirt more black on.
I love the convenience of that more than the constant worry of working within a colour painted engine bay.

Today i took a pic to better show the engine bay.

A shot of my heat shield and cable mounting plate.

I did a bicycle drink bottle to keep a clear path for airflow through my grille to my air filter.

I also made a cover for my fan switching controler from a piece of aluminium box tubing.

I hope shes a keeper
the only thing I would have done with that stripe was to centre thicker black centre
so the sunny badge has even black top and bottom and have a tapered arrow on the end
or curve towards the little round indicator and past it with tapered end.

found some original option magnesium rims too if anyone wants them
also original twin outlet vb10 exhausts dont go for much and are as good
as gx manifolds etc

Definitely a keeper.

think that is the first one of those manifold i have seen for sale D.

Anything going on inside for a heat riser set up?

When i had the normal A12 manifold on mine i replaced the pivoting shaft to something larger because of years of wear.

As for stripes, we actually moved the stripe up on the front guard.

Originally it chased the body line centred on the black stripe and had an awkward look to it, so we crept the front up a little  to sort the look.

Oh, and general height of stripe was set from fuel filler.

the heat riser was just like the original but I gutted mine and never had an issue with idling
as the electronic dizzie and fine tuning the mixture by ear and sometimes using colourtune
for hybrid A series carbs (combo of A12 and A10) or when I just bought a new one.

You never cease to amaze me with your parts knowledge D.

I should add a pic of an old A12 Heatriser manifold that i plated off for a Weber before i went to my A15 exhaust manifold.

Im assuming the VB10 ones could get the same treatment to allow sidedraughts?

Was thinking it was about time for another 1000 up top the other day.

Wasn't thinking of mine up there.

definitely needs yours up there also wondering if there is a way to link photos to some photobucket or similar account like Pin it or whatever holds images to keep all the fine photos of 1000s online for all to see from everywhere?
The guy from Panama or wherever he was in central America also had some nice 1000s with great photos

Are you talking about the Botoneta collection?

If so, i agree.
Jamie has some bueatiful 1000's.

As for image hosting, i believe andrewzuku was thinking of upgrading the site to make it more mobile phone friendly. And also something like photobucket was amongst the to do list.
